San Francisco Opera - The Marriage of Figaro

Why see San Francisco Opera - The Marriage of Figaro?

Figaro is getting married

Following on from the events of Rossini's quintessential comic opera, The Barber of Seville, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro continues the fun. Expect fireworks and frolics in Michael Cavanagh's production, directed by Shawna Lucey, set during the early days of American independence! Amidst the celebrations, Figaro's and Susannah await their own, much to the distaste of Count Almavivia. Peter Kellner makes his SF Opera debut as Figaro, alongside Slavka Zamecnikova as Susannah and Thomas Mole as Almaviva. Don't miss the excitement as this saucy, silly, and cherished tale returns to the War Memorial Opera House this Fall.

What Is The Story?

The delightful characters of 'Barber are reunited several years later to witness the marriage of Figaro and Susanna. But whilst the couple is gleefully awaiting their nuptials, Count Almaviva is doing everything in his power to stop it from happening. With more twists and turns than Downton Abbey, Mozart's saucy sequel sees the servants gear up to thwart their masters and win the day once more.
