Why see San Francisco Ballet - Dance Innovations?
Three Pieces of Innovative Ballet
In February San Francisco Ballet present Dance Innovations, three different innovative ballet pieces each showcasing their own groundbreaking shifts in the expressive possibilities of ballet. Featuring works by Edwaard Liang, Trey McIntyre and Harald Lander, Dance Innovations brings us the opportunity to explore the vast array of emotion the artform can deliver.
Liang's The Infinite Ocean reflects on the precipice that separates the realm of the living from the that of the dead, with a commissioned score by Oliver Davis. The world premiere of Trey McIntyre's The Big Hunger is a quest for greater meaning in an age obsessed with the trivial, set to Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2. Harald Lander's Etudesmeanwhile is a display of technical mastery from the 40-piece ballet ensemble.
