San Francisco Ballet celebrates the "Father of American Ballet", George Balanchine, with a program of three of his most iconic and influential works! First up, Diamonds is the finale from his unforgettable Jewels triptych, celebrates the grace and virtuosity of the Imperial Russian Ballet, set to Tchaikovsky's Third Symphony. Next, Serenade, set to Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C, was born from his teaching at the School of American Ballet and is now known is one of the hallmarks pieces of the famed New York City Ballet.
Finally, Stars and Stripes, Balanchine's 1958 tribute to John Philip Sousa's spirited marches, is the ultimate celebration of American pride, set to beautifully triumphant music and present across the country at various companies' USA 250 celebrations.
