"This is instinctive, in-the-moment art, and in-the-moment instinct says it's enthralling."

Mark Kozelek creates poignant indie balladry in Sun Kil Moon
Blossoming from the remnants of 90s alt rock outfit Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon is the moniker of frontman and singer songwriter Mark Kozelek. Creating indie folk balladry at its most bittersweet, Kozelek's slowcore sensibilities evoke an acoustic melancholy that call to mind rainy days watched from the safety of a warm home.
Several years ago Kozelek drew media attention for his war against the War On Drugs (the band), for a feud that was fuelled at an Ottawa Festival where Sun Kil Moon was drowned out by the Springsteen-esque indie rockers. Yet his unpredictable, gruff media persona aside, Kozelek is an enthralling performer and his deceptively simple songs, quiet storms, are enough to silence an audience of any size.
