All of popular culture's most beloved fairytale characters are brought together in this dark twisted fantasy from James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, coming to the San Francisco Playhouse this holiday season! Debuting on Broadway in 1987, this Tony Award-winning ensemble piece stitches together figures from Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk as they explore their hopes and wishes in the confines of the mysterious forest.

What Is The Story?

They say you should be careful what you wish for... The saying certainly applies to this magical tale! A childless baker and his wife long to have a little one of their own, but when informed by a local witch that it's because she's placed a curse on them, the intrepid couple set out on a quest to change their fate forever.

Love me some Milky White!

I had no doubt I would be mesmerized by this stellar cast but the big surprise is that I fell in love with the brilliance of James Ortiz’ puppet creations, especially Milky White.
