San Francisco Playhouse open their 2019/20 season with Clare Barron's blazingly original new play
San Francisco Theatre begins their exciting 19/20 season with this blazing work from Clare Barron, set in the cut-throat world of competitive dance. Following an ambitious troupe of pre-teen on the way to take over Nationals in Tampa Bay, Barron explores a landscape tense with adolescent angst, insecurity, and self-discovery in a situation where winning is everything.
Winner of 2017 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, Dance Nation looks at the girls who strive for perfection, where each new step represents ferocity and power, and the adults around them who push for more more more.
