The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Conner Gray Covington, presents a special live-to-picture performance of Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Vertigo, bringing Bernard Herrmann's iconic score to life as the film plays on the big screen! Released in 1958, Vertigo has become one of Hitchcock's most influential works, known for its psychological depth and visual innovation.
Herrmann's music was central to the film's lasting impact, with swirling motifs and unresolved harmonies echoing Vertigo's themes of obsession and disorientation. The film follows Scottie Ferguson, a retired San Francisco detective who is hired to follow Madeleine, the wife of an old acquaintance. But as Scottie becomes increasingly entangled in Madeleine's strange behavior, his sense of reality begins to unravel.
