San Francisco Symphony - Joshua Bell

San Francisco Symphony - Joshua Bell at Davies Symphony Hall

Why see San Francisco Symphony - Joshua Bell?

Joshua Bell returns with his Stradivarius!

A triple program marks violin virtuoso Joshua Bell's long-awaited return to the SF Symphony this June, conducted by visiting maestro Vasily Petrenko. The evening kicks off with Glinka's Capriccio brillante on the Jota Aragonesa, followed by Lalo's Symphonie espagnole. The program rounds off with the exquisite Symphony No. 1 by Rachmaninoff. Bell will perform the last two works with his Stradivarius. In 2016 Bell was named the Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

From amazing child prodigy to breathtaking virtuoso, Joshua Bell has performed with every major orchestra worldwide. He first came to national attention at the age of 14 in a highly acclaimed orchestral debut with Riccardo Muti and the Philadelphia Orchestra. A Carnegie Hall debut, the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, and a recording contract further confirmed his presence in the music world. In 2007 he was famously involved in a social experiment for the Washington Post that saw him don a baseball cap instead of his black tuxedo, taking his precious $3 million Stradivarius violin into the Washington Metro to play at rush hour!
