San Francisco Symphony - Garrick Ohlsson Plays Brahms

Garrick Ohlsson, playing without a score, dignified the piece with his phenomenal pianism - never self-servingly virtuosic - and equally phenomenal memory.

Why see San Francisco Symphony - Garrick Ohlsson Plays Brahms?
Piano Virtuoso
San Francisco Symphony Orchestra welcomes the prodigious talents of ivory-tickling virtuoso Garrick Ohlsson, whose masterful interpretations and technical prowess have earned him a host of prizes the world over, three Grammy nominations, a Gramophone Award and solo spots with many of the world's leading orchestras. Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 is his charge for this performance, a richly emotional epic which was the composer's first ever piece for orchestra.
Also on this program led by conductor David Afkham is Unsuk Chin's subito con forza, inspired by Beethoven, and Robert Schumann's Fourth Symphony, known for its playful "Clara Theme" based on the compositions of Clara Schumann, his wife. A sumptuous concert at Davies Hall!
