A history of blues with Morgan Freeman
A history of blues with Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman takes you on a trip through the history of a musical tradition that paved the way for much of today's popular music - the Delta Blues. With Mississippi's own Morgan Freeman both appearing live and narrating the cinematic experience, the orchestra will be joined by some of today's top Delta Blues players, from Clarksdale MI's Ground Zero Blues Club.
Originating from black musicians in the Mississippi Delta in the early 1900s, Deltas Blues is one of the earliest forms of the blues. Its characteristic sliding guitars and emotive, soulful vocal style made it one of the most recognizeable musical genres of early twentieth century, and most modern guitar-based popular music can arguably trace its roots back to the Delta. As Delta-bluesmen moved to the cities, new styles such as Chicago Blues were formed, which eventually influenced early rock n' roll and as a result, pretty much the rest of rock history.
