San Francisco Opera - Siegfried

A mythological adventure featuring a young hero, a fearsome dragon and a beautiful shieldmaiden
Why see San Francisco Opera - Siegfried?
It's A Love Story
San Francisco Opera's Ring Cycle continues apace with this third instalment returning to Wagner's world of tempestuous Gods and warring monsters a generation on from Die Walkure. Center stage is the young hero Siegfried, who tasked with horrors unknown, has the misfortune to fall heavily in love right in the middle of them.
Siegfried
Concerning the son of doomed lovers Siegmund and Sieglinde, Siegfried is the tale of a child raised with no fear, to be tool to conniving foster father Mime, brother of original ring-bearer Alberich. Mime thirsts for the power of the unholy band, and trains the unwitting Siegfried to defeat the giant Fafner, who now holds the ring and has transformed into a fearsome dragon.
Surely a suicide mission, Siegfried re-forges his father's legendary sword and sets out to slay the beast, whilst discovering the root of fear when he encounters the beautiful Brunnhilde, trapped within a ring of flames and loses his heart forever...
