Mastery of the modern greats

Why See San Francisco Ballet - Program 02?

morern mastery

The best in strength and fragility of modern choreographers are the order of this second program of 2017 from the San Francisco Ballet, including a world premiere piece from Choreographer in Residence Yuri Possokov and William Forsythe's specially reworked Pas/Pasts 2016.

Seven Sonatas
Choreography: Alexei Ratmansky
Music: Domenico Scarlatti
This sensitive Neoclassical ballet fuses perfectly with the delicate nature of Scarlatti's sonatas as this seemingly minute chamber piece for six fills the auditorium with grace and emotion.

Optimistic Tragedy - A World Premiere
Choreography: Yuri Possokhov
Music: Ilya Demutsky

Pas/Parts 2016
Choreography: William Forsythe
Music: Thom Willems
Almost 75 per cent choreographed for the company since its 1999 Paris Opera Ballet premiere, Pas/Parts is an eloquent piece that creates harmony with the pulsating electronic score.
