See San Francisco Through The Eyes Of A Local Legend
When San Franciscan businessman Joshua Abraham Norton lost all of his fortunes on a bad investment in Peruvian rice in the mid 1800s, he reacted by proclaiming himself 'Emperor of the United States' and 'Protector of Mexico'. Rather than turning their backs, the Golden Gate City embraced the eclectic and colorful character, even issuing an honorary currency in his name. Experience the city's rich history and discover its hotspots with local tour guide Joseph Amster, who'll be donning Norton's feathered top-hat and charming persona for a walking tour with a twist!
Over the course of two and three quarter hours and two miles, Amster is sure to delight and fascinate with his wealth of knowledge about not only the mythical Emperor Norton, but Union Square, Lotta's Fountain, Bummer and Lazarus, Maiden Lane, Jackson Square and the Barbary Coast amongst other must see locations. His walking tours cover the bustling Downtown area on Thursdays and Saturdays, and the Waterfront on the first and third Sunday of every month.
