Hey sister... the Broadway sensation, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is heading out on tour! The scintillating spectacle is loading up the windmill and its elephant and hitting the road on its first-ever national tour in 2022. Garnering rave reviews from Broadway's toughest critics Moulin Rouge! is the most gorgeous Broadway event of the year, don't miss it when it lands in your town!
Lighting up Broadway's Al Hirschfeld theater since the summer of 2019, Moulin Rouge! has thrilled audiences from across the country with its jaw-dropping sets, dazzling costumes, intricate choreography and the epic performances from the extraordinary cast. Featuring over 70 top hits of the last century this brand new musical, based on the iconic Baz Luhrmann movie, sweeps you away to Paris and opens the doors of the hedonistic world of the Moulin Rouge!
Directed by Alex Timbers and designed by Derek McLane the original Broadway cast features Aaron Tveit as hopeless romantic Christian and Karen Olivo as our sassy Satine.
Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! is cemented into the world-wide canon of iconic movies. With a glittering cast featuring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, and a set which would astound the most cynical viewer it's no wonder that Moulin Rouge! went on to be one of the most award-nominated movies of all time. When released in the early 2000s Moulin Rouge! was nominated for an outstanding 129 awards, winning two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, and one BAFTA. Moulin Rouge's success certainly cemented Luhrmann's stake as a global movie icon.
The year is 1900, and Christian, a young poet and talented writer, has come to Paris to pursue a career and become a member of the Bohemian movement. Christian ends up falling hopelessly in love with Satine, the star of the famous Moulin Rouge. However, Satine has already been promised to the unscrupulous Duke. A love triangle ensues. As Christian and Satine try to stay together against all odds, they are led down a dark and dangerous path, but Satine is holding a terrible secret of her own...
