A part of 2018's Music for Families series, Resident Conductor Christian Reif and the San Francisco Symphony take you on a journey to the rich continent of Asia, covering some of the vibrancy of different musical styles and sounds from country to country from Japan to Indonesia and beyond.
Expect a fascinating introduction to some unique instruments, folk songs and traditions that have long captivated composers and audiences alike. Excerpts from Ravel, Bright Sheng and Lou Harrison among others will show you and your inquistive little ones the impact that the incredible continent has had all over the world.
Gather in the Davies Symphony Hall before the show for some fantastic extras, including coloring stations, a conductor photo station and very special petting zoo, giving you the chance to get close to the instruments of the SFO!
