Schubert's Mozart-influenced Symphony No. 5 is a delightful showcase of the composer's youthful exuberance, with elegant melodies and charming orchestration, while Brahms' Symphony No. 1 is a monumental work which took 20 years to write.

Swedish conductor Herbert Blomstedt is a true grandmaster in the classical world, with a career spanning several decades. The elder statesman has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras and in 2022 was awarded the title of Knight Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the only federal decoration in Germany.
