Featuring a SF Ballet Premiere by Yuri Possokhov

This repertory production explores the direction that modern ballet is taking. Combining elements of both East and West, three works take to the stage by the Company, including an American premiere by South African choreographer Arthur Pita, in his first commission for SF Ballet. Pita's previous works include Mischief, which he created in collaboration with London's Sadler's Wells in 2007, a modern live action collage of movement and colour, representing the best of contemporary ballet. The Metamorphosis, created for London's Royal Ballet in 2013 marked a sea change in combining new dance with ballet, noteablly exploring the extremes of human movement through contortionism.

Former Boshoi Ballet dancer Yuri Possokhov presents his 2008 work Fusion once again with music by composers Graham Fitkin and Rahul Dev Burman; the evening finishes with Fearful Symmetries, a sensually physical work by up and coming artist Liam Scarlett, which premiered in early 2016 to huge audience delight, with music by John Adams.
