There's not many filmmakers who have shaped the history of cinema like Francis Ford Coppola. Beginning his movie career as a screenwriter, Copolla announced his ascension into the ranks of the 'New Hollywood' with his directorial debut The Godfather in 1972. A three hour mafia epic starring Al Pacino and Marlon Brando, it won three Academy Awards and is often tops lists of the greatest films ever made to this day. The Conversation, The Godfather Part II and the trippy Vietnam fever dream Apocalypse Now followed, a trio of classics that garnered a total of eight Oscars, and guaranteed Coppola a place in the celluloid history books.
For this special evening, the director sits down with novelist Dave Eggers (The Circle, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius) to discuss his life and times, and his upcoming book Live Cinema and its Techniques.
