A Walk On The Moon

A Walk On The Moon at A.C.T Geary Theatre

Why see A Walk On The Moon?

World premiere

An isolated housewife finds an engrossing new passion in this romantic tale set during the summer of 1969. Whilst we prepare to put a man on the moon and Woodstock celebrates the revolutionary feel in the air, Pearl Mankowitz discovers an escape in the shape of free-wheeling salesman Walker Jerome.

Adapted from the 1999 film by Paul Scott Goodman and Pamela Gray, this world premiere musical promises to stun with an original rock and roll inspired soundtrack that follows Pearl's journey of self expression.

One small step - the Story of a walk on the moon

Feeling lonely on the family's annual summer retreat in the Catskills, Pearl waits for absent husband Marty whose TV repairman skills are in high demand due to the impending lunar landing, and dispairs of her rebellious teen daughter Alison. By chance she finds herself drawn to travelling salesman Walker, who's free-spirit inspires her to relive her own youth - cut short when she gave birth at 17. With Woodstock just a short walk away, Pearl, Walter and Alison all discover something new about themselves whilst the nation buzzes with excitement, revolution and joy.

A Walk On The Moon

This is an amazing work that should not be missed! The music is new and the characters are real and the performances are authentic. The political and social unrest of the late 1960's certainly resonates today. I will try and go and see this play again before the run ends. The talented cast tells a very real story that will transform you to another time and place. Although filled with working class Jewish humor, you don't have to be Jewish to appreciate this show. Bravo to A.C.T. for continuing to promote heartfelt original artistic material! ... Read more
