Created by San Francisco based jazz and blues vocalist Pamela Rose, this combination of musical theatre and live concert is a celebration of the biggest female stars in jazz and the blues! This world premiere production spans across decades of the popular music form, and pays tribute to artists from Ma Rainey, Ella, Ida Cox
, Sippie Wallace, Bessie Smith, all the way up to contemporary greats like Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt! The cast is made up of a purely San Francisco-based collective of talent including Tammy Hall on piano, Ruth Davies on bass, Kristen Strom on saxophone, Daria Johnson on drums and Pat Wilder on guitar.
A must-see experience for fans of the blues, this show incorporates the idea of a jukebox musical like Beatles tribute RAIN, by using engaging storytelling, previously unseen movie footage, and anecdotes that paint a full picture of the women who popularized the art form.
