Richly textured, perfectly blended harmonies back lead vocals that somehow combine swaggering showmanship, meticulously honed technique and emotion of almost unbearable intensity.

The story of the Motown superstars
The story of the Motown superstars
An exciting new musical about the life and growth of The Temptations, the greatest R&B group of all time! These five young guys were discovered on the streets of Detroit by Berry Gordy and signed to the legendary record label; Motown Records. With their contagious choreography, unforgettable harmonies and flashy wardrobes, The Temptations ooze a feel-good vibe.
The story of The Temptations is bursting open the doors of Berkeley Rep with an explosion of energy in this world-premiere production directed by two time tony-award winning Des McAnuff; it will take us on the journey through loyalty, family, brotherhood, betrayal and how personal and political conflicts threatened to rip their dreams apart. You'll be hearing over 30 memorable rock-and-roll songs, with all The Temptations biggest hits including "My Girl", "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", "The Way You Do The Things You Do", and if The Temptations aren't tempting you enough you'll be dancing to bonus tracks that will be keeping you from sitting down including Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love" and an upbeat version of "Shout!"... this will truly be a night to remember!
The Temptations were originally called The Elgins until Motown Records decided to change their name to The Tempations, they also had 24 attempts before getting a hit record and the rest... well that's history.
