Why See Mariinsky Orchestra?

The Marrinsky Orchestra Plays The Russian Greats

One of the world's oldest and grandest classical music institutions, The Mariinksy Orchestra was founded in 1783. From its home base of St. Petersburg, it has transformed into one of the world's most preeminent symphony orchestras under the keen ear of Artistic Director Valery Gergiev.

When playing the patriotic music of their predecessors, there are few who can match the Mariinksy for its fullness of sound and authoritative playing. Their latest season includes an international tour, returning to US shores with a rich and vibrant programme of 20th Century Russian composers, players and soloists.

Amongst those played will be Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, please check with your chosen venue for a dedicate programme.
