I was surprised by how lyrical and beautiful the music was in the opera (other Strauss operas have been a bit too discordant for my taste), and all the singers were simply superb. I don't understand why SF Chronicle didn't give it 5 stars, GO SEE THIS OPERA! It is really fantastic.
