USSR Band Time Machine Hits US Shores
Fusing classic rock, the blues and traditional Russian folk music, Time Machine, or Mashina Vremeni as they're known in their native tongue, have pioneered rock and roll in their homeland since their inception in 1969. Considered the godfathers of Soviet rock, the band has a cult status that joins many generations of music lovers together across the world. After a sold-out tour in 2010, the USSR outfit are back in the USA with a vengeance.
Founding member Andrei Makarevich formed the group to recreate the sounds of the western rock pantheon at the time, but Time Machine quickly found their own musical feet and became a pop culture phenomenon in their own right. Throughout the years, under the direction of only constant member Makarevich, the band has reinvented itself by playing with styles and genres, but remains true to their strong melodic writing and emotive lyrics.
