OKLAHOMA WHO?

Along with everyone else that left at half time-or before, so disappointed. On me for not looking into the production more but it is called Oklahoma so thought there would be some resemblance of the original. Didn’t get it, didn’t like it, couldn’t hear it, going to try and remedy the night with Seinfeld reruns.

EMBARRASSING OKLAHOMA

This play has the distinct honor or being the worst play we have ever seen. Where to start? Gammage’s acoustics haven’t improved in 40 + years. There was one set used throughout. It was meaningless. Difficult to explain lighting and effects. Acting was worse than awful, voices were between terrible or worse. Casting was a joke. Zero connection between actors. Half the audience left at intermission. It was a shame that a new generation was presented with such a poor presentation of what Oklahoma once gave us: life in the Midwest and how it used to be. It is a total disgrace. Don’t go.

REALLY BAD

I am passionate about all genres of live theater productions, and really wanted to like this show. Went with an open mind, but honestly couldn't wait for the first act to end so we could bolt (there were many others that apparently agreed.) The show is atrocious. Would have rated it at zero stars, but that isn't an option. Very disappointed it was even allowed to tour.

GARBAGE

I bought these tickets a year in advance and was looking forward to it for that long, as I have always loved the classic. This was the worst play I have ever seen. We left at intermission and would have left earlier bit didn't want to crawl over 40 people. Half the audience left at intermission along with us. Soooo boring and such a disgrace to label it as Rogers and Hammerstein. The other reviews are spot on in regard to specifics. I'm glad I didn't stay after now reading about the ending. What a waste of money and time!!

WHY DID THEY DO THIS TO ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSICALS OF ALL TIME?

I went and saw the production last night with my 12 year old granddaughter. Needless to say, it was horrible. Costumes for the women were drab and blood on the faces and clothes of the leads at the end was horrible, and they closed the show in that condition. This production was dark and mean. The cast was mostly on the stage the whole time which was dumb, and made no sense. The original was cheerful, uplifting and romantic. This was just the opposite. Very disappointing after I paid $300. for 2 seats. The female lead was excellent and the voices were great but the set (1) and costumes were sad. Only strings in the orchestra and no joy. Guns were present and stressed unnecessarily. They simply took the positive spirit out the old version and replaced it with dark meanness.

WORST NIGHT EVER!!!

I am writing this review for my wife and 3 daughters that planned a fun girls night out and return home with a horror story. My wife couldn't stomach reliving the night so I am left to write not a review but a WARNING to avoid this monstrosity. All my daughters (adults) were extremely disappointed that the woke mob felt is was necessary to "widen the division between our fellow citizens" as the director, Daniel Fish, states in his lame attempt to justify what they did to Rogers & Hammerstien's masterpiece (they would roll in their graves). The first words from my wife described the performance as absolutely disturbing, dark, cheaply made, and super weird. She and my daughters felt absolutely SCAMMED by ASU Gammage's promotion of such TRASH! What a waste of time and money, but most important was the disappointment of ASU's disinformation campaign to peddle a Broadway hit in name only. To be fair they did say the actors had some amazing pipes and the music was great.

LEAVE EARLY IN THE INTERMISSION TO BEAT THE RUSH

A talented cast deliver pretentious garbage at a painfully slow pace. The only purpose the amplified gunshots served was to awaken napping audience members from the lethargic pacing and awkward stage direction. A simple story was transformed into a vehicle for overwhelming social neutrality and failed at the basic task of storytelling. The dramatic video sequence served as excellent cover for exiting patrons as our audience was down 30% before intermission. During intermission, the lines for the exits rivaled the end of most evenings. Not even the talented musicians could save this self-indulgent waste of time. Seriously, it sucked.
