DULL AND LIFELESS

I’ve never wanted to leave a show at intermission until this one. Actually the 2nd act was a little more spirited than the first. But we were extremely disappointed and felt it was a complete waste of time.

WORST SHOW EVER - AND A FRAUD IN CALLING IT A REMAKE

This is a low-budget, poorly written and arranged, poorly directed and poorly acted bastardization of the Rogers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma. The sets and costumes were primitive. The dialogue dragged, with frequent uncomfortably lengthy quiet times. Curley was not a great singer or guitar player, though he tried to do both. Aunt Ella was flat. The show felt like a tense drama that imprisoned and held hostage the cheerful, uplifting, fun story, characters and music that is the original Oklahoma. If you don't walk out at intermission you will be sorely tempted to do so with the bizarre, heavy metal, disconnected 5 minute or so dance routine that starts the second act. I would have left but for responsibility to get and elderly guest back home. On top of all this, this show completely changes the plot at the end. This is taking too much liberty. If you liked "Oklahoma" you'll hate this production.

WTF WAS THAT?!

Review : #Oklahoma Pros : on-stage orchestra; talented female lead; realistic blood splatter on the male and female leads Cons : pointless interpretative dance scene. Conclusion : Avoid; not suitable for any audience. #KenCen50 #KennedyCenter

OKLAHOMA

What a waste of a group of some talented people but the show sucked what was the purpose of the screen with people talking and no reasoning for it also that dance was really crappy and had no value to the show itself

OKLAHOMA NOT OK

Rogers & Hammerstein are rolling in their graves. This is an awful production after knowing how amazing Oklahoma could be. The first 12 minutes of the second act was the most disgusting dance performance imaginable seemingly unrelated to anything Oklahoma represented in 1931. Looked like a teen girl out of control in her bedroom. We bought these tickets four months ago not knowing some producers were going to muck up the original. Looked like a failed high school production with no screen changes and very poor character casting. Furthermore, we will now always doubt the Kennedy Center for advertising a play- is it the real adaptation or some phony wannabe. Our party of six wants a refund, although it’s highly unlikely. What a crummy way to spend 3 hours of my birthday!

A DARK AND DREADFUL PRODUCTION!

Most of the actors could not sing worth a lick. Even the mediocre ones struggled with the high notes. The dream sequence choreography was merely a set of floor exercises. Rodgers, Hammerstein and DeMille must be rolling over. I could not suspend my disbelief at the sight of not one but two men being attracted to an overweight, overacted Sis. Didn't appreciate the fog, the Hendrix version of a beloved Rodgers melody. Daniel Fish - you denigrated an American classic. If you wish to make a statement about guns and the rule of law in America, write a new play-- like Sam Shepard.

NOT ENTERTAINING AT ALL

Not many musical make me want to get up and leave but this one did. It was boring, the same props the whole time very little changes. Best part was when one of the stage hands just walked out and took a prop out off stage, why couldn't one of the actors take that off stage total break of immersion. It was just not entertaining, the singing was ok but the cast did not have any chemistry together or they where just so disgruntled as they see people walk out show after show. Changing things is fine, but making it so boring that people are leaving in droves is not the way to do it.
