OKLAHOMA....NOT OK

Spoiler Alert: Do not see this production! If you call a group of half wanna be cowboys and half Nirvana roadies sitting in a florescent cafeteria with tinsel draped over their heads edgy.....then you really need to get out more. It had all the edge of a western hallmark movie. Buuuuuuut....at least it was done poorly. The scenery and staging was lazy at best, the style was disjointed, the acting bad, the singing decent but highly uninspired. The large transgendered cowgirl could have been interesting if anything else on the stage was pointed in the same direction .. instead it was bullish, overdone, and out of place. They sucked all of the whimsical humor and story line out of this production and replaced it with a truly boring event with all the soul of a police line up. Turns out the audience was the victim in this one.

DISAPPOINTED

The advertising did not lead me to believe this was a dark take on a classic. Write a different play/musical and sell it as it is. I was looking forward to an upbeat evening. Thought provoking, but not at all what I was expecting. People need to know before buying. Some of the content could have triggered people who have experienced trauma.

WOKE JOKE

We took our two little girls (8-10) for a family night out. We though a great musical like Oklahoma would be great for them to see. Wow were we mistaken! How do we get our money back!? So many sexual innuendos! We left at the intermission because the kids were bored to death and none of us knew what was going on. The acting was terrible and no stage changes at all. They just stole the name Oklahoma to sell tickets. We won’t be going to the Peace Center any time soon.

OKLAHOMA

The actors did a wonderful job, but the storyline was just not to our liking. I agree with another review that the sound was not very good. Also, just give this production a different name - it had nothing to do with the original Oklahoma. Rodgers and Hammerstein must be rolling in their graves. I had NO ISSUE with the diversity - we need more of that, but this production was just bad.

SO DISAPPOINTED

Rodgers and Hammerstein are rolling over in their graves! Between a cast that was lethargic and a director who loved NUMEROUS pregnant pauses, this show was a complete disappointment. We regularly attend shows at the peace center and were looking forward to a classic production. So glad we didn’t take friends. It would have been embarrassing.

THERE SHOULD BE TRIGGER WARNINGS

If you have had suicide, death of a friend or family member by violence or unwanted sexual attention, this could trigger flashbacks. If you are planning to go to a lighthearted musical to relieve stress, this isn't your show. Wish I had known before I bought tickets.
