BE AMAZED!
I did not know anything going into this show except that it was obviously going to be about Janis Joplin and her music. It was much more than that! I was blown away at every aspect of this incredibly informative show featuring Joplin's greatest hits, performed with stunning perfection by Kacee Clanton, along with jaw dropping performances from the ensemble portraying Janis's musical influences: Aretha Frankiln, Nina SÃmon, Bessie Smith, Etta james, and others. The production values were top notch in sound, staging/direction, and some very groovy projections. If you are a fan of Joplin's music, GO SEE THIS SHOW! If you are not a fan of Joplin's music - GO SEE THIS SHOW and you will become a fan!! A.C.T.'s Geary Theater is one of my favorite venues without a bad seat in the house. I was in the balcony and was still close enough to capture the nuance on the performers and musicians faces. For the size of the house, it feels very intimate. I can't recommend this show enough.
