AN AMERICAN CLASSIC!

I went to see Tony Bennett on 4/8/17 at Hanover Theatre in Worcester, MA. He's 90 years young, and still going strong! His voice is still just as wonderful as his recordings, and he was having just as much fun as the audience, if not more. It was a true joy to hear "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" live, and he closed the show with "Fly Me to the Moon", sung without the aid of a microphone. Fortunately, I had seats close to the front of the stage and could hear his final song. I can only hope that I get to see him live again in the near future.

TONY BENNETT, NOVEMBER 2 AT PHILADELPHIA'S ACADEMY OF MUSIC

Absolute magic! At 92 years, his voice, his range, his delivery were almost unbelievable. It was an audience/performer love affair from the moment he walked onstage. Great quartet, great standards, including some of his signature songs. Numerous standing ovations. The house was electric and he seemed to being enjoying every minute. What a night!

OUTSTANDING!

Fifth time I have had the immense pleasure of hearing him sing. This past Saturday at Wolf Trap he didn't disappoint! It was my favorite as he seemed to enjoy every minute of the show himself! What a treasure he is and in my mind, one of a kind. Loved when Lady Gaga joined him. Love this man!

EXCELLENT!

Mr. Bennett put on a fantastic show. The accompanying quartet was also first rate. Sang all the classics, had great repoire with the audience. He is a genetic wonder at 91 plus. Last saw him in NYC in 1991. Don't miss this great singer if you have a chance.

MR. BENNETT IS 91 & STILL. GREAT

Amazing ! His vocal gift is still fully intact. May he be like Tony (Martin) whom I played accordion for from 1998-2012 when he died ! May Mr. Bennett do as well !!!

CLASSIC BENNETT!

Last night Tony was up to his own high standards of performance before a sold out, appreciative audience. He hit on many of his classics, and had a brief montage of several of these well-known works. Tony, you "flew us to the moon," and we basked in the "shadow of your smile." Remember: the music "never ends." No you didn't leave your heart "high on a hill" in San Francisco; you brought it to Nashville--and we thank you!

WOW!

Tony Bennett at the Altria last night was wonderful. Great arrangements sung in that unmistakable fashion by the Dean of the American songbook. His energy and stage presence lent an air of intimacy to the night. I thank my wife for the very special gift an evening listening to the premiere American song man .

DAAAAMMMM

Tony Bennett performed in concert last night at the intimate Celebrity Theater. I can’t think of any living performer I was as eager to see. At age 91 he shattered every myth about “old age”; delivering a non-stop one-man show where he was on his feet working the stage for almost 90 minutes. His voice was pristine ... clear, emotive and as powerful as a tornado. He never paused, rested or faltered and never missed a lyric. I honestly can’t think of one singer 1/5 his age who works as hard on stage without one iota of loop tracks, autotune or lip-syncing. His show can best be summed up by the woman seated a few rows behind me .... “daaaammm!”

TONY BENNETT AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL APRIL 13, 2019

What a beautiful journey not only for Mr. Bennett's energetic and well-polished performance, but also of the memories of what lyrics, melody and sentiment were from an era of performance excellence. The absorption of the audience into Mr. Bennett's stylistic, interpretative updates was complete. It was a privilege for my wife and I to be fortunate to experience what will be a lifelong memory . Bravissimo!!!

A FINE WINE MELLOWS WITH AGE

My first time listening to the legendary Tony Bennett was an amazing experience! His voice was as clear as in the 1960s, perfect phrasing, cavorting across the stage saluting his band, moving like a 40-year-old! There must have been at least 25 songs (lost count) in the 90 minutes he was on stage--with no breaks except for the instrumental parts. He didn't even sit down, and he announced he's 93. Tony's voice was amazing--full, strong, great range--he hit every note right on! A list of favorites, including "I Lost My Heart in San Francisco" near the end. The beginning of the concert was a few songs by his favorite daughter Antonia, just so-so, reminds me of Nancy Sinatra who couldn't hold a candle to her dad Frank. Oh well. The audience was in love with Tony Thursday night, standing ovation, and "We love you Tony!" Unforgettable performance by an American legend.

TONY BENNET'S PERFORMANCE AT RAVINIA WAS OUTSTANDING

His voice was a wonderful and his performance of each song was magnetic. He sang each song as if he was telling a personal, heartfelt story.

93 AND STILL GOT IT

Saw Tony sing last night. He still has a commanding voice and at 93 stood and walked around. He's definitely a legend. Just moved from San Francisco, so his "left my heart in San Francisco" was touching and an audience favorite.

TOO MANY CRACKS TO IGNORE

I was honored to see Mr. Bennett two years ago when he gave a wonderful performance at this venue. Sorry to say this one (5/3/19) was a bit painful. It was rushed, as if the only goal was to still perform a full repertoire at all cost. Still quite a feat for his age but I'd rather have more care put into fewer songs. There was a lot of talking the lyrics, not much singing, and occasionally a show of "power" which were too harsh and came off more as yelling. Perhaps with some care a short set could be arranged where he could stay within range, not try to overpower, and apply his still-considerable charm and warmth and wisdom to a small number of songs for the audience to savor at a gentler pace. There were a few moments when he really did connect deeply with the audience but they were too far apart as we were hurried from one number to the next at breakneck speed. It felt more like a stunt than a show, I'm sorry to say.

TONY BENNETT AT WOLF TRAP

My husband and I saw Tony Bennett last night at Wolf Trap Aug. 18, 2019, What a shame it was and so disappointing: His daughter Antonia was better than she's ever been but that's not saying much as she doesn't have a great or strong voice and one knows she has gotten the gig only because it was with her father. Her range is narrow, sound rigid and banter predictable. She said and sang pretty much the same things when we saw her and Tony a year ago. Tony seemed lacked energy, forgot some lyrics, compressed too many mini versions of his classics and called attention to his quartet too much. Over the last ten years we have seen and enjoyed him when he was still able to deliver on his legendary style; last night he wasn't all there. Too much shouting, not enough intimate interpretations, not enough of the man lingering with his music.

SHOULD NOT STILL BE PERFORMING

Saw Tony Bennett last night at Artis in Naples, Florida. My wife didn’t want to go as she was concerned about paying top dollar for “over the hill” legends (we saw Art Garfunkel last year, who had totally lost his voice). I read some recent reviews that said he was fantastic, so I dragged her with me. I should have listened. The show opened with the Tony Bennett quarter, who were very credible musicians. Then his daughter came out and sang for about 15 minutes. Nice voice, but not any better than a good lounge singer. Tony Bennett was a disappointment. He sang for about an hour. From time to time you could hear the recognizable Tony Bennett voice, but most of it was shouting, talking to the music, or I ntroducing the musicians, who did a lot of solos to take up time. I made my wife stay to the end to hear, “I left my heart in San Francisco”. He couldn’t screw that up! It was ok. Some of it recognizable, some off key, and some shouting. Not sure why he is still performing at 92. He couldn’t need the money.. Maybe it’s just a showcase for his daughter, who probably couldn’t get a gig on her own. He should give it up and enjoy retirement.

NOT A GREAT NIGHT IN GR

Attended the concert tonight and it is sad to see him tonight. He bellowed and shouted out his half songs instead of just singing. Most of his songs were centered around the piano or guitar players with Tony singing a few bars. He seemed lost at times but remember the words It was painful to hear him sing. I know he is 90 but he needs to stop touring . His ticket prices are very high and his audience deserves a better show. His daughter sang for 20 minutes in the beginning so he would not have to sing the entire 90 minute show
