A new holiday show for all the family

Why See Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena?

Classical & OperaFamily ShowsHoliday & Christmas Shows

Feliz Navidad

San Francisco Opera's Schools Program present this delightful new family opera, telling the tale of how the poinsettia became a symbol of the holidays. Based on the beloved Mexican folk tale, follow young Lucinda as she discovers that giving from the heart is more important than the gift itself in this wonderful story of courage, hope and transformation.

Written by Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire and directed by Caroline Altman this bilingual and interactive piece is the perfect outing for you and your little ones this Christmas.

What's the story?

Whilst working on a blanket together for a Christmas gift, Lucinda's mother becomes ill. With the present not complete for the annual Christmas Eve celebration and her mother unable to go, Lucinda heads out alone with just wildflowers to contribute. But when she arrives, she learns that there is more to her offering than meets the eye.
