What did the critics think of Head Over Heels?
News Desk April 23rd, 2018
The new musical featuring songs from the iconic female rock band The Go-Go's, Head Over Heads official opened at the Curran Theatre, April 18 ahead of its run on Broadway, June 23 at the Hudson Theatre.
So it is a GO-GO! Or a definite NO-NO!. The Mercury News states ""As a journey of self-discovery, the epiphanies don't feel earned"" but praised the music by saying, ""This frothy little musical stuffs all that ear candy right back in your head. And, yes, it's all you ever wanted"". The San Francisco Chronicle praises Socha's voice saying it ""spins gold, especially on the lesser-known Go-Go's songs ""Good Girls""...it is so perfect for the material you wish she had more stage time"". San Francisco Examiner couldn't say enough when it came to Head Over Heels, ""It's that kind of punditry, accent on the first syllable, mashed into iambic pentameter, with a broad wink, and tongue fiercely in cheek, that makes for a fizzy, athletic, stylish and very funny night of musical theater"".
So if you're into your 80s music, or just want a feel-good fun night at the theater, then it sound like Head Over Heels won't disappoint.
