George Balanchine's first work for a U.S Audience marries elegance with the influence of the khorumi, a Georgian war dance.
First premiering in 2011, Yuri Possojov's RAkU draws on Japanese theatre for influence, taking an historic event, the tragic burning of Kyoto's Golden Pavilion in 1950 and placing it out of time in this cerebral and dramatic ballet. Human emotion from love to violence is explored in this distinguished piece.
Blending the music of Bach and African rhythms, Lambarena is one of many ballets created by Val Caniparoli, displaying an eclectic mixture of styles and design.
