For the last 30 years The Theatre of Yugen have been committed to bringing this ancient Japanese art-form both in their San Francisco home and internationally. Yugen is an aesthetic idea, intangible, profound and subtle, it is an ideal perceived with all five senses. Alongside the traditions of Noh - Drama and Kyogen - Satire, the Theatre of Yugen present their newest world premiere, and first production under new artistic direction, The Genji State.

Drawing on legends, The Genji State explores the idea of the choices we make, and how they can determine the course a life will talk. Infusing traditional Japanese style with innovative techniques in dance and theatre, expect to be astounded by this unique show, from a unique company.
